Clubs let you build your own section of Marketocracy for you and your friends. Inside a club, you have your own forums and your own rankings. There are many reasons why you might benefit from creating a club, or participating in someone else's club. You could:

bullet Meet and chat with other Marketocracy members in your geographic area (maybe you could even meet face-to-face once a month).
bullet Compete with your friends or co-workers (make the guy down the hall prove he's the best investor in the office!)
bullet Because while competing against 50,000 members can be fun, competing against your friends, family or coworkers can be even more fun.
bullet If you are already a member of an investment club, you can use Marketocracy to make it easier to communicate between regular meetings and compare performance.
bullet If you're a financial professional and would like to use clubs to keep track of and communicate with your clients or associates, you can contact us about creating a "private" club that won't show up in the list of clubs on the site.

M Poster Castaway Fund 95 Prompted by fellow poster auminer, I am hosting a fund for "buy and hold" picks. This is auminer's idea: "Everybody pick five stocks you'd be comfortable holding if you planned to spend all (year) on a tropical island talking to a volleyball." The Marketocracy Posters' Castaway Fund DCAWX was created in late 2003 to track the picks and performance of Castaway participants, now in its second full year. At the beginning of each year, all purchases are made, and trading is locked for the duration. Stocks that pay dividends are re-invested. This Club gives all participants and interested parties an open forum where topics of interest to the Fund picks, and strategy, may be discussed. Open

S&P 500 Club 87 The goal of this club is to see if we can beat the S&P 500 by ONLY buying stocks that are in the S&P 500. The rules are: 1) You have to start a new fund to join; 2) You can only buy companies that are officially in the S&P 500; 3) Your fund has to meet compliance rules. Let's see if we can do a better job than the S&P Committee! Interested? Make a new fund that is comprised only of stocks in the S&P 500, and apply. Once your fund has been certified as 100% S&P 500, you will be admitted. (Of course, you don't have to buy ALL the companies in the S&P 500, the idea is to only buy the good ones!) Apply First
