Description:
The investment objective of the "Special Situation Fund" is to achieve "above-average", long-term gains resulting from fundamental changes in each companies' operations. The fund's strategy is to purchase shares of companies that are currently "out of favor" or experiencing substantial business and/or financial risk (i.e. - financial and accounting control problems and/or liquidity and bankruptcy risk). As a result, the fund does not focus on any particular industry although it stays clear of those highly sensitive to consumers'tastes (restaurants). As portfolio manager of this fund, I have held positions in mutual fund accounting, portfolio analysis and management, investment banking, and management consulting. Moreover, I possess a master's degree in finance, CMA and CFM designations, and am a candidate in the CFA and ASA programs. I select companies for inclusion in the portfolio by evaluating: a) the probability of management changes; b) industry and company prospects; and, c) relative value metrics.
