| Description: |
| This is an energy sector fund using growth at a reasonable price as a purchase criteria. I determine that using forward PEG, always under '1', and usually far less than that. The ratio of net tangible asset value to market capitalization is also a consideration, but reasonable levels of debt can be overlooked if a company is making exceptional returns on the money it has borrowed.
As of 17OCT07, the fund was fully invested, with all holdings fitting the GICS energy sector classification. BRNC and PDC make up 18 and 11 percent of the fund, respectively. I just entered a sell order to reduce the weightings of these two land based drillers to about 3% of the fund apiece, with proceeds most likely destined for offshore drillers and some services companies. I believe it will be 18mo-2 years before land based drilling regains its footing. |
