| HOW
THE MANAGER INVESTS |
| WHAT
IS YOUR INVESTING STRATEGY? (GROWTH, VALUE, TECHNICAL ANALYSIS, ETC.) |
|
answer --> |
I employ slightly different strategies for my various funds. My emphasis remains on the growth and value side using TA to arrive at lucrative entry and exit points. I don't feel that a concentration on any one strategy is beneficial in investing and try to examine issues from all sides, including fundamentals with a heavy dose of research. I feel that too many people are drawn by all the bells and whistles when investing but I try to do a thorough analysis often times trading on instinct.
|
| HOW
DO YOU SELECT NEW COMPANIES FOR YOUR FUNDS? |
|
answer --> |
I am constantly reading business news and find issues that I might want to further research and add to my portfolios. I employ a mix of strategies in making determinations with an emphasis on valuation, management and fundamentals. I then will rely heavily on technical analysis to find lucrative entry points. I try not to act impulsively but sometimes the contrarian in me emerges and I will take a shot at an issue that everyone hates for a day, because often they love them tomorrow. Even this though is not undertaken without some research since I may end up holding the stock for awhile. Most often I exercise my contrarian impulses on issues already in the fund and which I already have a certain amount of understanding.
|
| HOW
DO YOU DECIDE TO REMOVE A STOCK FROM YOUR FUNDS? |
|
answer --> |
Usually I remove a stock strictly on a valuation basis. If I believe an issue might have advanced too far on available news I will sell it and re-enter, hopefully at a better price. I do not fall in love with a stock. It can be the greatest company of all time, but often isn't worth the price it's trading at. A drastic change in business plans, or management, is another reason for eliminating a stock, but rarely occurs. I do not trade on any analysts upgrade/downgrade because I am an analyst and if I can't belive in my own judgments maybe I shouldn't be doing this.
