| HOW
THE MANAGER INVESTS |
| WHAT
IS YOUR INVESTING STRATEGY? (GROWTH, VALUE, TECHNICAL ANALYSIS, ETC.) |
|
answer --> |
I mostly go for income. REITS and royalty interests, with some index following. High yields may be more volatile in the short term, but I believe that the payout ratio is worth the risk.
Lately, I've also started indexing rustbelt industries like steel because I believe there's money to be made in this beaten down sector.
***Effective 9/1/04, all dividends in all of my funds will be reinvested. I believe that we are headed into a multi year "bear correction" and I intend to come out ahead of the game by sticking to an investment plan that has worked for over 200 years...Buy and hold quality, limit risk, and reinvesting dividends.***
|
| HOW
DO YOU SELECT NEW COMPANIES FOR YOUR FUNDS? |
|
answer --> |
For income funds, I search for highest yield and the ability to pay that sum well into the future. A long consistant track record of dividends and 3 to 5 year positive returns are the number one factors.
For sector funds, it has to be in a sector that I follow and can understand. 99% of stock picks in sector funds come from almost daily reading of the Standard and Poors Stock Guide. As a fairly conservative investor, I put little creedence into hot tips or pump and dump message boards.
|
| HOW
DO YOU DECIDE TO REMOVE A STOCK FROM YOUR FUNDS? |
|
answer --> |
With very few exceptions, a 20% loss overall under the original investmest. That amount may or may not move to 15% in the future. You won't see a lot of turnover in any of my funds...***Effective 3/21/06, I went to a 10% loss under the original investment for all high yield funds
