HOW THE MANAGER INVESTS
WHAT IS YOUR INVESTING STRATEGY? (GROWTH, VALUE, TECHNICAL ANALYSIS, ETC.)
answer --> My strategy is value, and also looking at broad economic trends like unemployment, money supply, and inflation. I also like companies with low debt and don't mind looking overseas.
HOW DO YOU SELECT NEW COMPANIES FOR YOUR FUNDS?
answer --> I decide on general trends and having identified those, I then choose the top companies to benefit from the trend which tend to be market leaders. For instance the trend toward home ownership in America over the last twenty years led to a lot of success for the home repair retail sector. This could have been predicted. However it may not have been obvious how much the top company Home Depot did compared to competitors like Hechingers and Lowes.
HOW DO YOU DECIDE TO REMOVE A STOCK FROM YOUR FUNDS?
answer --> I somewhat use market timing considerations. I also have a discipline where if a stock goes up by 30% I evaluate whether to sell the stock and will usually at least sell a percentage. Another sell point is if a stock goes up 50% from original purchase. If I have any shares left after this run-up I am usually done selling and will hold it for a while.
