| HOW
THE MANAGER INVESTS |
| WHAT
IS YOUR INVESTING STRATEGY? (GROWTH, VALUE, TECHNICAL ANALYSIS, ETC.) |
|
answer --> |
I am a fundamentalist in the Ben Graham & Warren Buffett school of thought. As such, I like to buy into companies selling for about half their current value based on their cash positions and projected earnings flow. This usually classes me in the value camp, but a solid company with good growth prospects will also merit attention if it looks like it will grow into a good fundamental value play.
|
| HOW
DO YOU SELECT NEW COMPANIES FOR YOUR FUNDS? |
|
answer --> |
I do an initial screen for companies selling at low P/E, P/revenue, P/cash flow, with good profitability (ROE) and decent current ratios and debt ratios. Then, I evaluate recent growth and the ability to keep delivering growth and a steady stream of earnings over the next several years. Finally, I try to form some sort of judgement about the management and actual products of the company and whether they are worthy of my trust and confidence.
|
| HOW
DO YOU DECIDE TO REMOVE A STOCK FROM YOUR FUNDS? |
|
answer --> |
When the value of the company's earnings stream seem to be fully reflected in the current price, either because the price has been bid up to fully valued, or because the fundamentals have deteriorated to such an extent that recovery does not seem likely in a reasonable time frame, I ask whether there is not another stock that offers better prospects of return. Also, if there is a loss of confidence in management or their products, i.e. fraud or other financial statement shenanigans, or shoddy quality problems, etc.
