| HOW
THE MANAGER INVESTS |
| WHAT
IS YOUR INVESTING STRATEGY? (GROWTH, VALUE, TECHNICAL ANALYSIS, ETC.) |
|
answer --> |
I am strictly a value investor, but all other things being equal I prefer to invest in companies that are growing their revenues and profits. I invest in a lot of turnaround/unattractive situations where I perceive the risk to be much less than the market does.
|
| HOW
DO YOU SELECT NEW COMPANIES FOR YOUR FUNDS? |
|
answer --> |
I don't have a well-defined method for finding attractive investments. Newsletters and message boards give me ideas, but less than 10% of the stocks from even the best resources are suitable for investment. Some stocks fall within my radar due to significant drops in price and/or media coverage. Generally, the forward PE must be less than 10 or there must be significant potential resource, IP or liquidation value. SEC filings are always reviewed prior to committing funds.
|
| HOW
DO YOU DECIDE TO REMOVE A STOCK FROM YOUR FUNDS? |
|
answer --> |
Price appreciation to the point where the stock is impacting asset allocation rules will often result in a reduction in holdings. Stocks will only be sold off completely if I believe they are approaching fair value or if I have to make room for a better prospect. In some cases negative events result in a significant reduction in my assessment of the fair value, resulting in a stock's removal from the fund.
