| HOW
THE MANAGER INVESTS |
| WHAT
IS YOUR INVESTING STRATEGY? (GROWTH, VALUE, TECHNICAL ANALYSIS, ETC.) |
|
answer --> |
I am an investor who focuses on fundamentals. I try to find sectors that may experience rapid growth based on the world economic situation. For example, the growth of the Chinese economy and weakness of the U.S. dollar are two major factors driving my sector picks now.
|
| HOW
DO YOU SELECT NEW COMPANIES FOR YOUR FUNDS? |
|
answer --> |
Two steps, first I pick a sector for a fund based on my general understanding of the world economy. Then, I look for companies that appear to be undervalued in that sector. I tend to pick companies that have been assigned a low ranking by other analysts. This is part of my theory of "falsehood recognition" investing, which I believe is different from contrarion techniques, although fairly closely related.
|
| HOW
DO YOU DECIDE TO REMOVE A STOCK FROM YOUR FUNDS? |
|
answer --> |
That has not been an issue for me so far. I believe that the current economic trends are going to last another ten years (from January 2004). So I plan to stay put for awhile. When the U.S. trade deficit shrinks to the point where imports are less than 110% of exports, I will consider changing my strategy. But I don't expect that to happen for a long while yet. Another mark I will look for is when the annual production of electric power in China is greater than twice U.S. annual electric power production, When that mark is reached, China may be starting to approach a slower rate of economic growth. Again, it will probably take about another ten years for the Chinese to build that many power plants.
