Ah yes vacation time. Not here though. New hobby has me at the Rod and Gun club poking holes in paper targets. Of course this new hobby has me buying ammo on a weekly basis. I have to say the price of copper and tin plus a war has raised the price of ammo and caused shortages in several types. Trying to find .45 caliber ammo is getting a bit trying. Oh well I'm going to take a class to learn how to reload my empty casings in an effort to save money. Imagine paying nearly $3 a round for ammo. That sure makes target practice expensive. Oh well as far as pumping goes its usually done with stocks that would never make into my real life portfolio. I tend to pick companies that pay a dividend. Oh well off to wal Mart to see if they have any .45,.45LC, 8mm, .410 and .303 ammo. |

$3 a round for ammo? Holy guacamole! I'm gonna find me some copper and tin stocks!
Dividend stocks! Yeah! me, too...for the most part. Lots of bargains in dividend-paying stocks in the last couple of weeks. |

What are you shooting the .303 out of lturner .. an Enfield ? . Nice to see we have folks with varied interest here .
You want to do some cheap fun shooting with a rifle that'll give a nice flat trajectory at a decent distance check out the newer .17 hmr rounds . At 8 bucks a 50 round box for quality ammo you can do some longer range plinking without knocking such a big hole in your wallet or being forced to shoot cheaper grade ammo to save money . If you wanted to go even cheaper you could shoot the .17 hm2 (Mach 2) for about 5 dollars for a box of 50 .
Of course you would have to get another firearm to shoot it but when Hornady introduced the round they had already sold the gun manufacturers on it so there are plenty of those out by several companies . (even a few pistols too ) hm2 rounds won't fire out of hmr rifles or vice versa so it would be one or the other unless you bought a convertible rifle . Neither round is good for anything above varmint hunting (varmint hunters was where the round first gained popularity ) They do make awesome exit holes on cans though because the bullet bascially turns into a thousand little pieces when it hits something solid . It has the same speed at a 150 yards as a .22 rimfire does coming out of the barrel so it zings downrange .
Frankly I'm sorta surprised a person with so many varied other calibers to buy ammo for (especially the 8mm and .45 long colt) doesn't have a basic semi-auto .22 rimfire for protection in case you are ever faced with a particularly menacing set of tin cans and pop bottles |

| Oh I have a Winchester 9422, a Hammerli Trailside 22 and a H&R Sportsman 9 shot top break .22 for the inexpensive shooting. Of course if size matters and it does I have a blackpowder Walker 1847 that uses a .454 lead ball. I Love to make smoke. And for something to wear around the ankle there is my Glock 30. One must be well armed when dealing with the market. |

"One must be well armed when dealing with the market." ---------------------------------------------------------------- I have a Glock Sling Shot I bought from the local branch of The Evil Empire that shoots sharp rocks on my stock selection board.
My 'bullets' land on 'bear traps' almost everytime!
